President Obama's American Dream Speech
"What is unique about America is that we want these dreams for more than ourselves - we want them for each other. That's why we call it the American dream. We want it for the kid who doesn't go to college because she cannot afford it; for the worker whose wondering if his wages will pay this winter's heating bill; for 47 million Americans living without health care; for the millions more who worry if they have enough to retire with the dignity they have earned...
I believe that Americans want to come together again behind a common purpose. Americans want to reclaim our American dream... Because in this country, that dream is worth fighting for - not just for ourselves, but for each other... Every American has the right to pursue their dreams... America is the sum of our dreams. And what binds us together, what makes us one American family, is that we stand up and fight for each other's dreams, that we reaffirm that fundamental belief - I am my brother's keeper, I am my sister's keeper - through our politics, our policies, and in our daily lives. It's time to do that once more. It's time to reclaim the American dream.
President Barrack Obama's 2007 speech shows how each and every American is capable of having their own American Dream. Not only do we want the dream for ourselves, but we to see the ones we care about the most and help them achieve it along the way. In life, seeing people who come from nothing and go somewhere with their life is great and shows that people never give up on where they are currently. They strive to make something out of themselves and to show the world that there's a place for them. It shows that the dream is something worth fighting for and a want to achieve it. The dream is in the hands of each individual and can only be succeeded if they excel at things needed to accomplish the dream. These days it seems that people have given up on the American Dream and stopped working towards it. He wants America to reclaim the American Dream. The President wants each individual to have regain hope in their dreams and to know that in achieving each and every goal, that they are not in it alone. That they have people helping them along the way and that they are their to fight for it along side.
